An examination by a specialist physician is called a physical examination. Taking the patient’s history (anamnesis), performing the examination and performing some tests if necessary is called physical examination. In this way, the patient’s problem is diagnosed and, if necessary, treated. In general, the whole body is examined, but if the problem belongs to a particular system or organ, this problem is examined more often.

A good and detailed physical examination is essential for a correct diagnosis. A woman who has no complaints about her breast should be seen by a specialist physician once a year from the age of 40. Patients with any problems in the breast that need to be monitored can be monitored at closer intervals.

There are cases of breast cancer that cannot be detected by any other diagnostic method (no suspicious lesion is seen on mammography) but is diagnosed only by physical examination.

In addition to mammography, breast examination by a specialist physician is important for the early diagnosis of breast cancer. Although rare, some breast cancers cannot be diagnosed by mammography and ultrasound, which is why a physical examination should be performed in addition to mammography.

It is recommended that all women at risk undergo a physical examination in addition to mammography.
